Spiritual Practices Day – February 1st 2020 10am to 3:30pm
Rural Enterprise East - Otley Campus
How can we discern what God is doing and allow space for God to speak and guide us? On this day at Otley College, Bishop Mike teaches some “Holy Habits” which help us to catch the voice of a loving God in a noisy world. Some of the practices are for personal use on our own and some are practices for small groups like Lightwave or perhaps a PCC.
Many of the practices have been influenced by the exciting programme of Partnership for Missional Church. For example -
• Dwelling in the Word – God’s Word in Scripture shapes imaginations, intentions and actions.
• Dwelling in the World – Interacting in the wider community, looking for People of Peace, forming new relationships with them.
• Announcing the Kingdom – Noticing Jesus at work in the world, sharing stories of this and building confidence to point out the Kingdom of God to others so they can notice it too.
• Hospitality – Practicing the receiving of hospitality as well as welcoming others.
• Spiritual Discernment – Learning a process that helps make spiritual decisions and recognising the Holy Spirit at work.
• Focus for Missional Action – Discerning a specific missional vocation for your Christian community together, not dissipating energy into too many ‘good’ things.
This day is open to all but aimed specially for Lightwave Group leaders and members together with those considering Licensed Lay Ministry. There will be a morning of learning the practices and experimenting and an afternoon for quiet time for personal prayer, using creative prayer stations with opportunities for one-to-ones and coaching or help to plan how to introduce the practices into your small missional group. Those who are considering licensed lay ministries will have the opportunity for a discernment interview during the day.

Missional Listening – February 29th 2020 2020 – 10am – 4pm, All Saints Church, Redgrave
"The first duty of love is to listen" said Paul Tillich. This day is about how we as Christians and churches can listen in our local communities so that we can share faith in the ways which come from love and understanding.
Through a mixture of teaching, prayer and practical exercises to help you to try this at home, we will be learning about listening to God through prayer, listening with others and how to listen to our cultural and geographical contexts in depth.
